Understanding the power of hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a gentle, collaborative approach to healing that helps you access your subconscious mind. It enables profound personal transformation by addressing underlying thoughts and behaviours.

I use hypnotherapy as a supportive tool alongside long-term counselling or EMDR. It is not a quick fix, and the process works best when you bring openness, accountability, self-reflection, and curiosity.

What happens in hypnotherapy

When hypnotherapy is deemed to be the most appropriate choice with a particular issue, we have to bear in mind that there are two types of this therapy: inputting and retrieving.

Inputting

I will guide you into a relaxed state where your subconscious can accept suggestions. Next, I will present some visualisations, metaphors, or fairy tales that relate to problem-solving or achieving your goals.

I will likely record the session and provide you with the audio to listen to daily until our next meeting. You will remain in control throughout the process, and your subconscious will focus on the helpful suggestions.

Retrieving

Choosing regression hypnosis can be helpful at times. I will guide you into a hypnotic trance and request your subconscious to allow us to access the initial incident where the painful memory originated. We will then work on repairing it.

To engage in this therapy effectively, it’s important for you to trust me completely. Therefore, we will need to have counselling sessions beforehand to address any barriers to trusting this therapeutic relationship.

Hypnotherapy is a completely safe and collaborative process. You remain in control throughout the session and and your subconscious will accept or reject the suggestions because it's so clever!

How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your individual needs and goals, which is why I usually recommend starting with an initial consultation to develop a personalised treatment plan. It’s important to understand that hypnotherapy is not a quick, two-appointment fix for patterns of societal or familial conditioning that may have developed over many years. Real change requires your full commitment, openness, accountability, and a genuine desire to be helped.

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Anyone who wishes to experience hypnosis can do so, as all hypnosis is ultimately a form of self-hypnosis. It is a collaborative process and cannot be imposed or forced upon you.

What can hypnotherapy help with?

Hypnotherapy can address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, stress, phobias, habit change, confidence building, and trauma processing.

Will I lose control?

No, you remain fully aware and in control during hypnotherapy. It's a collaborative process where you're guided towards positive change while maintaining your autonomy.
