FAQs

Is there a quick fix?

It isn’t possible to predict exactly how many sessions you will need, as everyone’s journey is unique. A helpful place to begin is by asking yourself: How much longer do I want to stay in this current state of mind? How many sessions am I willing to give myself to move forward?

My recommendation is to begin the work together and allow the process to guide us. From there, we can review your progress and determine what feels right for you.

What happens in the first session?

Your first counselling session is a collaborative and supportive introduction to therapy. You'll meet Ilona, discuss your goals, and begin to establish a comfortable therapeutic relationship. The session is designed to help you feel heard and understood.

Do I need to prepare anything?

No extensive preparation is needed. Simply come with an open mind and be ready to share your thoughts and feelings. Bringing a list of concerns or goals can be helpful, but it's not mandatory.

How will I feel afterwards?

Feelings can vary after your first session. Some people feel relieved, while others might feel emotionally tired. This is completely normal and part of the healing process.

Can I ask questions?

Of course! I encourage you to ask questions about the therapy process, my approach, or anything that helps you feel more comfortable.

How much does it cost?

Initial assessment session £75.

Long term One-on-one sessions cost £75 for 50 minutes.
Short term EMDR sessions £100 per session.

The payment is required 24-hours prior the session via a bank transfer and the bank details will be provided in our Counselling Agreement.

If you cancel with less than 48 hours' notice, you will still need to pay the full fee.

How many sessions will I need?

Therapy is not an exact science, and there is no universal timeline that applies to everyone. Together, we will develop a personalised plan to support you in navigating the challenges you are experiencing. Your active participation is essential, as meaningful progress can only occur when you are ready and willing to engage with the work. For instance, I cannot address issues such as addiction unless they are acknowledged and accepted as areas for change—therapy is a collaborative process, not something that can be imposed or “fixed” without your commitment.

How do the sessions work?

Face-to-face sessions are preferred, I am located in North London; however, if this does not work with your availability or accessibility, we can consider online therapy.

Online therapy is accessible from all devices. I usually conduct our sessions via WhatsApp, MS Teams or Google Meets, but you can let me know your preference.

What if I need to cancel a session?

To change or cancel an appointment, you are requested to provide more than 48 hours' notice. You will have the opportunity to reschedule your session at a time that is convenient for you. Please note that if notice is given less than 48 hours prior, a full sessional fee will apply, as I allocate the full 50 minutes exclusively for your appointment.

How long do EMDR sessions run?

EMDR therapy tends to be a short term depending on your circumstances and trauma you sustained.
