I am committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information in line with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This policy explains what data I collect, how it is stored, and how it is used.
1. What Personal Data I Collect
As part of my counselling practice, I may collect and store the following information:
- Name, date of birth, address, phone number, and email address
- GP details and, where relevant, details of other professionals involved in your care
- Information about any medication relevant to our work
- Session records (date, initials, and explored themes). These notes are anonymised and stored separately from contact details.
If you contact me through this website, I may also collect:
- Information you provide via contact forms (name, email, phone number, and your message). This information is sent securely to my email and stored in the website backend.
- Non-personal data through cookies and analytics tools, which help improve website performance. Please see the Cookie Policy for more details.
2. How Your Information Is Used
To contact you regarding appointments or communications related to counselling.
To meet my professional and ethical responsibilities as a counsellor, including safeguarding and duty of care. To maintain session records that support the counselling process. Your personal data will never be shared with third parties unless I am legally required to do so. Where possible, I will inform you first.
3. How Your Information Is Stored
Paper records are kept securely under lock and key.
Session notes are anonymised and stored separately from personal contact details.
Website form submissions are stored securely in the website backend and in my email account.
I retain records for a minimum of 5 years after our work together has ended, after which all data will be securely destroyed.
In line with good practice, my Professional Executor holds a sealed envelope with a list of my clients’ first names and contact numbers. This will only be accessed if I am suddenly incapacitated or pass away, and they will contact you in such circumstances.

Under GDPR, you have the following rights:
- Access: You can request a copy of the information I hold about you.
- Correction: You can ask me to update or correct any inaccurate information.
- Erasure: You can request that I delete your data, subject to legal and ethical obligations.
- Restriction: You may request limitations on how your data is processed.
